Brandywine Community News
New Castle County Councilman Robert S. Weiner (R-Chatham) has been reappointed chairman of the National Association of Counties' Sustainability Leadership Team and its Land Use and Growth Management Subcommittee.
Weiner has led the committee since 2000 and has been chairman of the
Sustainability Team since 2002.
"While I always place my duty to my constituents first, I have learned lessons
and skills from my national leadership positions which have enabled me to
benefit our community," Weiner said.
"Employing these skills and knowledge, I am proud of having spearheaded the
Claymont Renaissance and of helping to rewrite our New Castle County growth
management code, which both protects our environment while spurring economic development and enhancing social equity."
The association's Sustainability Leadership Team assists county officials in pursuing effective development practices that balance economic property, environmental stewardship and social equity. The Land use and Growth Management Subcommittee is part of the National Association of Counties committee that sets the association's policy on air, water and noise pollution, solid and hazardous waste management and disposal, the preservation and use of water resources, energy and the use of land resources.
Weiner was also re-appointed as a member of the association's Watershed Management Advisory Committee. Weiner, who was elected to New Castle County Council in 1996, is co-chairman of the county's Economic Development Subocmmittee. He practices law in Wilmington with the firm of Fox Rothschild.
