New Castle County Councilman Bob Weiner Sponsors $2500 Council Grant To Benefit Brandywine High School 50th Anniversary
New Castle County Councilman Bob Weiner is pleased to announce that the Brandywine High School 50th Anniversary Committee has received a grant in the amount of $2500 from New Castle County Council. “I am pleased and honored to have sponsored this grant for the Brandywine High School's 50th Anniversary on October 25, 2008 which coincides with the Homecoming Football game festivities. I also serve as Chairman of the Brandywine High School Class of '68 Reunion Committee and we are celebrating our 40th class reunion the same day. Our reunion celebration includes participation in all the football game festivities and a dinner that evening. ” stated Weiner. Brandywine High School opened its doors in 1958. In addition to strong academics and performing arts, Brandywine High School has also maintained a strong athletic program securing state titles in Boys Soccer (1980), Boys Cross Country (1968), Girls Cross Country (2000), Boys Basketball (1998), Boys Swimming (1968), Boys Track (1962), Baseball (2002), Softball (1996), Wrestling (1961), Girls Track (1974), Boys Tennis (1998) and Girls Tennis (1989), and; Cordie Greenlea, the Assistant Principal of Brandywine, earned and was awarded the honor 2006 Delaware Interscholastic Football Coaches Association’s Coach of the Year for being the state's outstanding football coach. “The Brandywine High School community has extended itself all over the world in the past 50 years and our graduates have made significant contributions locally, nationally and in the international arena,” said Weiner. “Through these many years, Brandywine High School has remained true to its vision and continues to embrace, inspire and challenge every child.” For additional information, please contact the Office of Councilman Robert Weiner at 302-395-8362.
