Councilman Robert S. Weiner appointed to Delaware Greenways’ Advisory Board

Wilmington, Del. - Delaware Greenways announces the appointment of New Castle County Councilman Robert S. Weiner to the Delaware Greenways’ Advisory Board.  Weiner will join a distinguished group of Delaware leaders that have provided invaluable counsel to the organization since its inception.

Councilman Weiner is a tireless community leader committed to protect the interests of the community while at the same time supporting responsible development.  During his long tenure as Councilman in the 2nd District, representing western Brandywine Hundred and a portion of Claymont and Greenville, Weiner has fought against overdevelopment and for upgrades to the community’s infrastructure.  He has authored numerous articles concerning land use issues which have appeared in publications nationwide and throughout the State. He is regularly asked to speak on smart growth issues to national, professional, legal and civic groups.

Mark Chura, Executive Director of Delaware Greenways states, “We’re very excited that Bob has agreed to serve on Delaware Greenways’ Advisory Board.  His passion, energy and commitment to open space and smart growth initiatives provide a great strategic fit for our organization.”

Delaware Greenways leads grassroots efforts throughout New Castle County and the state, leveraging public and private investment for greenways and trails, and catalyzing the development of policies and initiatives to conserve and protect open space, create livable and enduring communities, and preserve scenic landscapes.   For more information, www.delawaregreenways.org

"I’d like to express my appreciation to Councilman Bob Weiner who exhibits strength, determination and fortitude and is always on the side of the people. I followed Bob’s actions when he was head of CCOBH's zoning committee and made strong efforts to try to stop the Brandywine Town Center construction. He has continued with energy and zeal in many pivotal positions in spite of enduring a lot of negative professional and personal attacks. I appreciate that he is never deterred."
