V.P. Joe Biden jokes he may challenge Councilman Bob Weiner in bid for his old County Council seat

Old friends may become foes  News Journal 11/7/12

At a campaign stop in Cleveland, Vice President Joe Biden joked he might consider a bid for New Castle County Council in 2016.

The proposition did not worry Republican Councilman Bob Weiner, who Biden would have to beat for the seat.

“He’d have to run against me in two years, but he wouldn’t want that job again. He’s already said it’s a political nightmare, the worst job he’s ever had,” Weiner said.

The two worked together in 1971 to transform Asbury Methodist Church into the Christina Cultural Arts Center, he said.

“I would welcome the opportunity to run a good, clean race against him on land-use issues, fiscal integrity and transparency in government,” Weiner said.

"I have never been as impressed by the actions of an elected official as I have been with Councilman Bob Weiner. Whatever I ask or request, his response is immediate, even if it's something outside his jurisdiction. Bob always takes action or points me in the right direction."
