County Council may soon be streaming its meetings on the internet - WDEL
By Jim Hilgen County Council members approved a measure to explore streaming public meetings over the internet. WDEL's Jim Hilgen reports. Councilwoman Janet Kilpatrick and Councilman Dave Tackett sponsored the resolution. Kilpatrick says live streaming of public meetings would allow the public access to government without having to head into Wilmington. Tackett says he hopes to begin posting audio recordings of the meetings within the next few weeks. Councilman Robert Weiner says the move would increase transparency and openness of county government. Councilman Tackett adds that any additional expenses involved in streaming the meetings will require Council approval under a separate ordinance. The resolution was unanimously approved.
