NCCo Council gives $2,500 grant to Brandywine High band boosters

The Brandywine High School band boosters will receive a $2,500 grant from New Castle County Council to help cover expenses for students participating in the band and color guard programs. Councilman Robert Weiner, who is a 1968 graduate of Brandywine High, sponsored the grant and said he plans to present the check to the booster association at 6:30 p.m. Saturday during Brandywine High School Jazz Fest in the school auditorium. The money comes from the council's contingency budget, which is used for travel, unexpected expenses and small grants to community groups. Money spent from the contingency fund requires a majority vote by the 13-member council.
